Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams were seeded No. 1 for Wimbledon, while defending mens champion Andy Murray was bumped up two spots above his world ranking to No. 3. Djokovic, the 2011 Wimbledon champion, is ranked No. 2 but was given the top seeding by the All England Club ahead of top-ranked Rafael Nadal. Nadal, a two-time Wimbledon champion who is coming off his ninth French Open title, is seeded No. 2 for the grass-court Grand Slam, which starts on Monday. Murray last year became the first British player to win the Wimbledon mens title since 1936. Seven-time champion Roger Federer is No. 4, while Australian Open winner Stan Wawrinka is down two spots from his world ranking at No. 5. Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer, Milos Raonic, John Isner and Kei Nishikori round out the top 10. Among the 32 seeded players, Jerzy Janowicz received the biggest boost, ggoing up nine spots from his No. Desmond King Jersey. 24 ranking to No. 15. The big-serving Polish player reached the Wimbledon semifinals last year, losing to Murray in four sets. Wimbledon takes a players grass-court record into account in assigning the mens seedings. The womens seedings, however, stick to the WTA rankings. That means five-time champion Williams is No. 1, followed by Li Na, French Open runner-up Simona Halep, Agnieszka Radwanska and Maria Sharapova. Sharapova, who won her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon 10 years ago, is coming off her second French Open championship. She is considered Williams top challenger at Wimbledon, despite the No. 5 seeding. They could end up on the same side of the draw. Petra Kvitova, the 2011 Wimbledon winner, is No. 6, followed by Jelena Jankovic, Victoria Azarenka, Angelique Kerber and Dominika Cibulkova. SINGAPORE -- Panuphol Pittayarat of Thailand birdied two of his last three holes to maintain a one-stroke lead after the second round of The Championship at Laguna National on Friday. Pat McAfee Jersey . Panuphol, the overnight leader, shot a 4-under 68 for a two-round total of 13-under 131, a stroke ahead of Scott Hend of Australia, David Lipsky of the United States, and Felipe Aguilar of Chile in a tie for second place. The Thai, ranked 451st in the world, has never won on the European Tour and missed his last three cuts this year on the Asian Tour. "The two birdies in my last three holes were nice to end off my round," he said. "Its nice to be putting myself in a good position heading into the last two rounds. I would rather stay up there than to be chasing the lead actually. I just want to grab my chance and not let it go." Hend had eight birdies and just one bogey to shoot a 7-under 65, the low round of the day. The Australian, whos also looking for his first European Tour title, said it was difficult to stay focused in the hot, humid conditions at Singapores Laguna National golf course. "I am used to this kind of weather but it still comes to a point where your body just cannot take it and it makes you lose concentration," he said. "Im managing well so far. Two more rounds to go and we will see what happens." Aguilar, playing with a sore wrist after a recent mountain biking accident, birdied his last three holes to card a 67. "(The wrist) doesnt bother me much, but I still have pain. It will be there for the next four or five months," he said. "Everything you do is dangerous so you have to be careful, but Im playing good golf because Im happy, and so the mountain biking helps." Anders Hansen is also returning from a wrist injury that required surgery and kept him off the tour for six months last year. He missed the cut at his first two events this year, but finished in a tie for fifth last week at the China Open. The Danish golfer shot a 66 on Friday to move into a share of fifth place at 11 under, two strokes off the pace. He dropped a stroke on his final hole when he three-putted for bogey. "Its always hard coming back after an injury," he said. "Ive never had six months off before so I didnt know what to expect. It was tough the first four rounds I played, the first two in Spain and Malaysia, but then last week something kicked in and it has carried on this week." Clayton Geathers Jersey . James Harden wasnt worried and told his coach as much. "He was fired up but I told him: Its OK. Were going to be all right," Harden said. And they were. Houston scored 17 straight points after that timeout, led by 10 from Harden, to take the lead and roll to an easy 129-106 win. Tarell Basham Jersey . -- Stacy Lewis shot 7-under 65 to lead the LPGA Tour team to the championship of the 3Tour Challenge on Tuesday. PHOENIX -- Miguel Montero took two mighty swings, trying to end the game on both. He failed, so for the third, he shortened up, trying to protect the plate. That ball ended up going out and, boy, did the Arizona Diamondbacks need it. Montero hit a leadoff homer in the 10th inning after Martin Prado hit a two-run single in the ninth, helping the Diamondbacks end a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies Wednesday night. "I was swinging hard, trying to launch one," Montero said of his first two swings. "Its a pretty funny game. It was the last pitch I was thinking about in that count and it was a short swing, I was kind of quick on it. That protect swing was pretty good." And a good thing for the Diamondbacks. Stuck in a rut, Arizona appeared to be in trouble after Colorado went up 4-0 after three innings on Carlos Gonzalezs two-run homer and pitcher Jordan Lyles leadoff shot in the third. It took some time, but the Diamondbacks worked their way back into it. After struggling early, Josh Collmenter quieted the Rockies bats over his final four innings and Trevor Cahill did the same while getting six outs. Paul Goldscmidt gave Arizonas offence a little life in the eighth inning, hitting a solo homer off Adam Ottavino. In the ninth, the Diamondbacks strung together a string of two-strike hits to load the bases against Rex Brothers, and Prado tied it at 4 with a two-run single up the middle. Addison Reed (1-2) kept the Rockies in check by stranding a runner at third in the 10th inning and Montero, after a couple of misses, ended it with his first career walkoff hit, a towering homer to right off Tommy Kahnle (2-1). Montero was mobbed as he crossed the plate and was treated to a dirt bath -- an Arizona walkoff tradition -- that was a nice release for a team that had won two of its first 13 games at Chase Field. "We needed that," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said. "It was good that the guys hung in there." The Rockies certainly didnt want to end their six-game road trip this way. Colorado won four of the first give games and appeared to be in control after Lyles pitched six effective innings. But the Rockies lost the lead after Brothers struggled to put away hitters and the game when Montero hit a 1-2 fastball over the wall. Nolan Arenado extended his majors-best hitting streak to 20 games with a single in the sixth inning for Colorado, which had three hits after the third innning. Pierre Desir Jersey. "We had the game in control it looked like for most of the game, so it was a tough one to lose," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "It is always tough when you dont put games away." The Rockies beat up on Arizonas pitching the first two games of the series, with 13 runs and 23 hits, including 12 for extra bases. They kept it up early against Collmenter -- with a little help from the right-hander. Gonzalez got it going in the first inning, eking a two-run homer just over the wall in the right. Collmenter had a wild pitch to advance Jordan Pacheco to third in the second inning, but got a break when he was called out on appeal for leaving the base too early on a fly to right. Lyles led off the third with his first homer on Sept. 30, 2012, with the Astros at Milwaukee, and Collmenter followed with another wild pitch that scored Charlie Blackmon to put Colorado up 4-0. Collmenter settled in after that, retiring 10 straight batters until Arenados two-out single in the sixth inning. Collmenter allowed four runs on seven hits in seven innings. "He really started getting the ball down, locating better, getting his curveball down," Gibson said. "He was much more effective and to throw seven innings like that was really what we needed." That kept the Diamondbacks in it, but they couldnt get much going against Lyles. Prado hit a one-out triple off Lyles in the first inning, but was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a grounder by Goldschmidt. Arizona loaded the bases against Lyles in the sixth, scoring just one run, on Aaron Hills groundout. The Diamondbacks struggled in a similar situation the night before, failing to score with the bases loaded and no outs in a 5-4 loss to the Rockies. Unlike the night before, Arizona found a way to win it when Brothers couldnt put hitters away, particularly Prado, whos tying hit came with two strikes. "One pitch away from that game being in the books. No doubt about it," Brothers said. "I didnt execute. Bottom line. I didnt execute a pitch." NOTES: Arizonas starters have allowed 28 homers, most in the majors. ... Colorados Justin Morneau went 0 for 4 to end a 13-game hitting streak. ... The Diamondbacks have Thursday off before starting a three-game road series against San Diego with RHP Bronson Arroyo on the mound. ... KANSAS CITY – For the fourth time in seven games, the Blue Jays blew a lead of at least three runs. Josh Rosen Cardinals Jersey . While it would be easy to lay this one on the bullpen - Steve Delabar, Brett Cecil, Sergio Santos and Esmil Rogers got tagged for eight runs in the final two innings - this loss, by a final score of 10-7 to the Royals, was a total team effort. So much so, in fact, that manager John Gibbons, Kansas Citys bench coach as recently as 2011, took a veiled shot at his club while praising his old team. “I will say one thing about that team over there, because I was there when they were young,” said Gibbons. “They play nine innings. I dont care, up or down, they compete and they get after your ass and thats why theyre going to end up winning it one day.” Perhaps Gibbons was upset with catcher Dioner Navarro, who put on a clinic of how not to play defence in the second inning. First, with Royals at the corners and one out, Navarro attempted to back hand a Dustin McGowan slider in the dirt. The ball skipped off Navarros shin guard and towards the Royals first base dugout. Billy Butler, the runner on third, scored. Later in the second, again with runners at the corners, Navarro inexplicably attempted to throw out Alcides Escobar trying to steal second. The throw was offline and bounced into centrefield, allowing Alex Gordon, who was on third, to score. Perhaps Gibbons was upset with Edwin Encarnacion who, with two runners on and one out in the seventh, didnt hustle down the first baseline on a ground ball back to pitcher Kelvin Herrera. Usually a routine play, Herreras throw brought first baseman Eric Hosmer off the bas,e but because Encarnacion was only halfway down the line, Hosmer had plenty of time to collect himself and step on the bag for the out. Perhaps Gibbons was frustrated with Colby Rasmus and Jose Bautista, who converged on Gordons lead-off fly ball to right centrefield in the seventh. Neither took charge - its Rasmus job to do so - and the ball bounced on the warning track for a lead-off double. The Jays had a 5-2 lead at the time. Gordon would score one hitter later when Salvador Perez hit a two-run home run off of Delabar, marking the start of the Kansas City comeback. Perhaps Gibbons was frustrated with Melky Cabrera, who did tack on two more hits for a league-leading 41, but who also had a poor night in left field. Twice Royals runners took an extra base on Cabreras arm. Once because he displayed no urgency in getting the ball back to the infield and Cabrera also missed a cut-off man in the Royals six-run eighth, allowing a second run to score on a single by Omar Infante. The Blue Jays fell to 12-14. Gibbons called it a “crappy game.” Under the cirumstances, he was being polite. McGOWANS STRONG OUTING; STROMAN MAKES STATEMENT As Dustin McGowan took the mound in Tuesday nights series opener against the Royals, Marcus Stroman was wrapping up, perhaps, his most impressive appearance in his brief professional career. The two are linked. The belief is that the Blue Jays are growing weary of McGowans inability to work deep into ballgames; manager John Gibbons has repeatedly offered that he liked McGowans work out of the bullpen last season, thinking hes better suited to a one or two-inning role. McGowan is a type-1 diabetic and, as first reported by TSN.ca, he wore his insulin pump in an attempt to regulate his blood sugar level - it tends to skyrocket during games - and alleviate the fatigue that overtakes him in the middle innings. He pitched into the seventh inning for the first time this season, granted it was just one batter and Alex Gordon doubled, but it was a step forward. McGowan allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits, three walks and two strikeouts. He left with a lead, which was coughed up by the bullpen. “Real encouraged,” said McGowan. “I got deep in the game and thats all Ive been wanting to do. Sometimes the results are overshadowed by the innings you pitch, but as long as you get deep in games, good things happen once you get deep in games.” Stroman is among the clubs top pitching prospects and of those prospects, is considered to be the most major league ready. He showed it in Buffalo on Tuesday, hurling six hitless innings, striking out 10 and walking only one in what could be his final Bisons appearance before hes added to the 40-man roster and brought up to pitch in Pittsburgh this weekend. Gibbons has talked about using a six-man rotation through the next turn. The Blue Jays dont have another off day until May 19, which prevents Gibbons from rearranging the order of the rotation to facilitate additional days off for certain pitchers. If the Jays were weighing whether to go with McGowan or J.A. Happ on Monday in Philadelphia, after Stroman starts on Sunday in Pittsburgh, McGowans performance may have bought him at least one more start. GETZ ARRIVES; GOINS TO BUFFALO Chris Getz was shagging fly balls during Triple-A Buffalos batting practice on Monday afternoon when minor league field coordinator Doug Davis waved him in to give him the news he was on his way back to the big leagues. A former Royal who played in Kansas City for four seasons and not immediately aware of the Blue Jays next opponent, Getz was surprised to hear of his first stop destination. “It was pretty funny because I knew they had the off day and then Doug mentioned that, Hey, youve got a flight at 6:30 and youre heading to Kansas City,” said Getz. “Heading to Kansas City? I already played with them. Of course, Im playing against them, but it was cool to come back here and see a lot of familiar faces, teammates, but even the people working at the park. You get to know them over the years and theyre such good people here. I just kind of feel at home.” Getzs contract was selected from the Bisons in time for Tuesday nights opener with the Royals. He replaces Ryan Goins, who was optioned to Buffalo after a slow start at the plate. In 24 games and 66 plate appearances, Goins posted a slash line of .150/.203/.217 (.420 OPS), with one home run. “He was having good at-bats,” said hitting coach Kevin Seitzer. “I think if we were, as a group, doing better top-to-bottom, he would probably still be here. I dont know, thats not my decision, but I felt like his at-bats were getting better and better the last week, week-and-a-half.” This isnt it for Goins. The Blue Jays value his glove. Expect him to be back. “I told him, You go down there, be a good teammate, work hard, keep a good attitude which I know you will and apply the stuff that we worked on,” said Seitzer. “I said, I want you building confidence in everything youve done to this point to where you come back and dont go back.” Getz is a solid defensive second baseman who will bring a little more offence than Goins. For his six-year career with the White Sox and Royals, Getz, 30, is a .251/.310/.309 hitter. Justin Pugh Jersey . Rajne Soderberg, the director of the Stockholm Diamond League event, said in an email Friday that the ban still holds. Euromeetings, the organization representing Europes top track events, "will continue to recommend that members do not invite athletes who we believe cause disrepute to our meetings and our sport. Watt had just one regret.I want to win more games, he said. We couldve won more games.Watt had three sacks, a safety and forced a fumble Sunday to strengthen his case for MVP and help the Texans to a 23-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Texans (9-7) had a shot at making the playoffs, but Baltimore beat Cleveland 20-10 to claim the final AFC wild-card spot.Youre excited about the win and everything that happened and youre hoping, Watt said. But thats what happens when you leave it in somebody elses hands.Andre Johnson helped out in the win with a season-high 134 yards receiving and a touchdown for Houston which made a seven-game improvement over last seasons 2-14 record under first-year coach Bill OBrien.Johnson gave Houston a 21-17 lead with an 8-yard reception early in the fourth. Watt made it 23-17 when he sacked Blake Bortles in the end zone for a safety a few minutes later. The sack gave him 20 1/2 this season, making him the first player in NFL history to have two seasons with 20 or more sacks after he also had 20 1/2 when he won Defensive Player of the Year 2012.The Jaguars (3-13) had a chance to take the lead late, but Cecil Shorts III was out of bounds on a catch on fourth down.Bortles threw for 117 yards as he struggled to move the offence for most of the day under near-constant pressure from Watt and company.Watt danced happily to the song Turn Down For What after returning to the sideline after his safety. The defensive end, who has scored five touchdowns this season, smiled as the sellout crowd chanted MVP, MVP.Watt is looking to become the first defensive player to win NFL Most Valuable Player since Lawrence Taylor did it in 1986. The winner will be announced by The Associated Press on Jan. 31.Five things to know about the regular-season finale between the Jaguars and Texans.A CASE FOR CASE: Case Keenum threw for 250 yards with two touchdowns and an interception to win his second game since rejoining the Texans after being released in training camp. Keenum was signed from the St. Louis practice squad two weeks ago after Ryan Fitzpatrick and rookie Tom Savvage were injured with Ryan Mallett already out for the season. Josh Bynes Cardinals Jersey. Hes a good guy, a fun guy to coach, OBrien said. I cant say enough about the job that he did and I cant say enough about the guys around him and the way they rallied around him over the last couple of weeks.GROWING PAINS: Jacksonville coach Gus Bradley was impressed by the work ethic and attitude of Bortles this season. But the Jaguars are certainly looking for improvement next season from the third overall pick in this years draft after he finished the season with 11 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. This guys exactly what were looking for and well get to work with him in the off-season that well get (things) accomplished, Bradley said. That spirit and that fearlessness and competitiveness that he has is exactly what we hoped.JOHNSONS BIG DAY: Johnsons had 10 receptions on Sunday to give him 85 catches for 936 yards this season. He is the 11th player in NFL history to have 80 or more catches in at least seven seasons. Sunday was his 51st career game with 100 yards receiving, which is the most among active players and tied for Terrell Owens for fourth-most in NFL history. Johnson said hell probably appreciate his place in NFL history more when he retires.I dont really get a chance to sit down and look at it and just go over everything, Johnson said. I think thats when youre really able to realize what you were able to accomplish as a player.MARKS INJURED: Jacksonville defensive tackle SenDerrick Marks injured his knee on a touchdown by Houstons Alfred Blue that made it 14-10 in the second quarter. Marks was on crutches after the game and Bradley said hed have an MRI on Monday.TOUGH STRETCH: The Jaguars have not had a winning season since going 11-5 in 2007. They won eight games in 2010, but havent won more than five since then. Dwayne Gratz, who had an interception return for a touchdown on Sunday, said the Jaguars have to find a way to improve next year.It is time, he said. We need to stay on top of it and make sure it doesnt go this way next year. I think well get on top of it and hold each other accountable next season.___Online: AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap Heat Jerseys Cheap Hornets Jerseys Cheap Hawks Jerseys Cheap Bucks Jerseys Cheap Pacers Jerseys Cheap Pistons Jerseys Cheap Cavaliers Jerseys Cheap Bulls Jerseys Cheap Raptors Jerseys Cheap 76ers Jerseys Cheap Knicks Jerseys Cheap Nets Jerseys Cheap Celtics Jerseys Cheap Magic Jerseys Cheap Wizards Jerseys ' ' '

At the age of 46, Dominik Hasek was still playing hockey. Dante Pettis Jersey . He put on his goalie pads for the final time Feb. 27, 2011 in the KHL. At the age of 49, "the Dominator" is expected to be part of the class of 2014 at the Hockey Hall of Fame, which will be announced this afternoon on TSN2 at 3pm et/Noon pt. Though nothing is guaranteed, the six-time Vezina Trophy-winner should be a lock. "For me its a no-brainer," former Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said earlier this year. Hasek won one Stanley Cup as a starter with the Detroit Red Wings in 2002, then split time with Chris Osgood and became the backup in the playoffs for the 2008 title. He came close to the Cup in 1999 with Buffalo, only to be beaten by the Dallas Stars on Brett Hulls foot-in-the-crease overtime goal. Haseks best years came with the Sabres, when he had seven straight seasons with a save percentage of .930 or higher. He finished with 234 career regular-season victories in Buffalo and 389 over his 16-year NHL career. Veteran goaltender Tomas Vokoun "knew all along" Hasek would be great from watching him play in their native Czech Republic. "It took him a little bit just because of his style and all that to convince people here," Vokoun said in a phone interview. "I definitely consider him, if hes not the best, one of the top three to ever play. ... He definitely deserves to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer." Swedish centre Peter Forsberg is also expected to get the call to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. American-born centre Mike Modano leads the other new candidates and is the most likely to be inducted, ahead of three-time Cup-winner and first-ballot dark horse Mark Recchi. Forsberg, who began his career with the Quebec Nordiques following the blockbuster Eric Lindros trade with the Philadelphia Flyers, went on to win two Cups with the Colorado Avalanche. He finished with 885 points in 708 regular-season games as his career was cut short by foot injuries. With 1,374 points over 21 seasons, Modano became the most prolific American-born scorer in NHL history. Late coach Pat Burns remains a candidate in the "builder" category, a year after Fred Shero was posthumously elected 38 years after leading the Flyers to back-to-back Cups. Burns, a three-time Jack Adams Award winner as coach of the year, died in November 2010 at the age of 58. This is the first year John Davidson is serving as chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame selection committee, replacing Jim Gregory. Bobby Clarke, David Poile and Luc Robitaille were appointed to the committee for the first time. Clarkes addition raised the question of whether Lindros would stand a better chance of being elected. Despite a contentious relationship with the Lindros family, the longtime Flyers general manager is considered a proponent of his Hall of Fame case. Lindros has similar numbers to Forsberg — 865 points in 760 games over 13 seasons — and won the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 1994-95. The three-time Canadian Olympian and world junior standouts resume isnt as Hall of Fame-worthy as Haseks. The goaltender is all but certain to be inducted Nov. 10. "I appreciate it, its very nice to be among all these big players," Hasek said recently when asked about impeding election to the Hall of Fame. "I appreciate to be one day, maybe, in the Hockey Hall of Fame, however ... it was never my goal when I was playing hockey." Fred Warner 49ers Jersey . The 12th-ranked Haas served well throughout the match at the Ibirapuera arena, allowing only one break point to the 152nd-ranked Italian. Both players held serve until the first-set tiebreak, when Haas stepped up his game to easily clinch the set. Dante Pettis 49ers Jersey . The Henry Burris-led squad finished second in the East Division before advancing to the Grey Cup where they ultimately fell to the home field advantage wielding Saskatchewan Roughriders.LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Nevada regulators are considering sanctions against an Ultimate Fighting Championship star accused of avoiding an official who showed up unannounced at his gym to collect a sample to test for banned substances. In 2012, the Jays used 34 pitchers, (33 if you dont count catcher Jeff Mathis, who mopped up in two blowout games), which was a club record for pitchers used in a season. They lost Brandon Morrow, Drew Hutchison and Kyle Drabek to long-term injuries in the month of June alone in a span of just a few days. By the end of the season, they had only two pitchers with over 30 starts in Henderson Alvarez and Ricky Romero, who were also the only two to crack 180 innings on the mound. Last season wasnt much better. John Gibbons utilized 31 pitchers and for the bulk of the season, didnt use one starter in his rotation who had been part of John Farrells crew the year before. Injuries struck again with Morrow, Josh Johnson and J.A. Happ all missing significant time with injuries. Luckily, R.A. Dickey and Mark Buehrle found their "sea legs" in late May and early June and paced the staff the rest of the way. Dickey finished with a staff-leading 34 starts and 224.2 innings pitched with Buehrle right behind with 33 starts and 203.2 innings. Still, neither of these vets is getting any younger. Dickey turned 39 in October and Buehrle will be 35 in March. No other starter on the Jays staff cracked 140 innings. Esmil Rogers, who was in and out of the rotation, had 20 starts and pitched 137.2 innings. All you have to do is look at the last five World Series winners to see the value of a healthy and durable staff, not to mention one peppered with star power. The 2009 Yankees used 24 pitchers over the course of the season, but their staff was led by three horses in lefties C.C Sabathia, Andy Pettitte and former Blue Jays righty A.J. Burnett. Sabathia and Burnett each broke 200 innings and Pettitte pitched 194.2. And, of course, having Mariano Rivera in the pen didnt hurt either. The 2010 Giants top four starters, Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Barry Zito and Jonathon Sanchez each made 33 starts and ppitched at least 193. Jermon Bushrod Saints Jersey. innings with Cain and Lincecum breaking 200.  The 2011 St. Louis Cardinals pretty much used just six starters all season. Edwin Jackson was acquired late in the season in the same three-way deal that brought Colby Rasmus to the Blue Jays. He supplanted Kyle McLellan in the rotation, but the ttwo combined for 29 starts and nearly 220 innings. Chris Carpenter, Jaime Garcia, Kyle Lohse and Jake Westbrook all had over 30 starts and Carpenter peaked out with 237.1 innings. Of the last five World Series champions, the 2012 Giants had the most healthy and durable group. Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Ryan Vogelsong, Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito all had at least 31 starts with Cain and Bumgarner throwing over 200 innings. The other three had between 180-190 innings. In fact, the Giants only had two other starts that season that had to be filled by other pitchers. Last years champions, the Boston Red Sox had to go through a little bit more adversity. They used 26 pitchers over the course of the season, including 11 starters, but they still had four starters, Jon Lester, John Lackey, Ryan Dempster and Felix Doubront, who were able to go to the mound 27 times. If Clay Buchholz, who made 16 starts, hadnt been injured, he may have challenged for the Cy Young Award. The bottom line to all of this is, the Blue Jays staff as stands is nowhere near good enough to contend. The Jays need two proven effective starters between now and the start of spring training. However, Im afraid with the heavy competition for the few quality pitchers available, GM Alex Anthopoulos will be fortunate to get one.  How far this may have set the Jays back is hard to say, but in the last five June drafts, the Jays have failed to sign three of their top pitching selections. Lefty James Paxton, a Canadian no less, refused to sign with them after being chosen #37 overall in 2009. In 2011, Tyler Beede who went 21st overall to the Jays, chose the college route rather than signing with the Jays, while last June, the Jays backed off on signing Phil Bickford, whom they had taken 10th overall. The Jays have some significant pitching prospects in Aaron Sanchez, Marcus Stroman and Sean Nolin, but none who figure to be ready for breakout seasons in the Majors just yet. CLEVELAND -- Karin Knapp and Camila Giorgi won the opening singles for Italy to lead the United States 2-0 in their Fed Cup first-round tie on Saturday. Jon Bostic Steelers Jersey . Knapp beat Christina McHale 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the first match at Cleveland Public Auditorium, and Giorgi routed Madison Keys 6-2, 6-1 in the second. The United States has never won from 0-2 down since World Group play began in 1995. McHale, ranked No. 62 in the world, appeared to gain control after closing out the second set by winning the last three games. But the 40th-ranked Knapp dominated the third set. "In the third set, I changed a little bit of my game because in the second set, I was playing too much cross-court," Knapp said. McHale had won her last four Fed Cup matches. In the second match, the 84th-ranked Giorgi dominated the 37th-ranked Keys. The winner will face the Spain-Czech Republic winner in the semifinals in April. Morgan Burnett Steelers Jersey . FORT MYERS, Fla. http://www.officialraidersgear.com/Raiders-Johnny-Townsend-Draft-Jersey/ . -- Jake Peavy arrived at Bostons spring training complex on Monday with a large white bandage covering his left index finger, the result of a weekend accident. The right-hander, scratched from his scheduled spring training debut Monday against Pittsburgh in Bradenton, said he was hurt Saturday. "Just getting ready to go fishing," he said. "I promised my little boy I would take him fishing, so we went to Bass Pro and we bought us some rods and reels that were comboed. Peavy said he was "trying to cut the wire tie that was holding them together, using the knife with my right hand and holding the rod with my left, and when I broke the wire tie, it struck the knuckle pretty good." Since Peavy didnt want to disappoint his son they drove to teammate John Lackeys house. But while pulling the knife out of his hand, Peavy said he struck a vein and got a good amount of blood on his shorts. Peavy said he threw away the shorts at Lackeys house and changed. Lackey told Peavy he should get the wound examined. Peavy then went fishing and didnt catch anything. "I couldnt tell my 5-year-old I didnt want to go fishing anymore," Peavy said. "It was his last day here. I couldnt say, Well go tomorrow. It wasnt the biggest deal in the world. Not much we could have done except -- the biggest thing was, they were freaking out, thinking I was cleaning fish with the knife." The 32-year-old Peavy, acquired by Boston last summer, was 4-1 with a 4.04 ERA in 10 starts for the Red Sox last season and 0-1 with a 7.10 ERA in three post-season starts. He received several stitches Sunday to close the gash. "Its a bummer. I didnt think it was that crazy bad to the point I didnt seek medical attention. That day we wrapped it up and went fishing. I came in here yesterday and realized we needed to have it stitched up and we would have to take some precautionary measures. You just dont want to risk infection. I could go out and play today if it was a must, but you cant risk infection and let it sweat. And me not getting it tended to right off the bat, you just dont want to get it infected and thats the reason were going to hold off a day or two." Red Sox manager John Farrell said on Sunday that Peavy will not throw for three days. "I dont think its going to be long at all," Peavy said. "I would like to get out, play some catch and do some stuff tomorrow. The biggest thing is theyre not going to let me sweat until the healing process takes over. I believe Im going to play catch and I would love to tell you Im going to make my next start. Thats certainly what Im aiming for and hopefully we can do that and get back on schedule and it doesnt mess things up too much." Peavy is behind because of irritation in his right ring finger stemming from when he was hit by a ball while shagging flies early in spring training. Farrell said Peavys timetable to start the season may not be affected if he can get back to his throwing program soon. Peavy could be fitted with padding in his glove. "Thats going to be the kicker," Peavy said. "Its on a knuckle. Well figure it out. Get a bigger glove or something. Im sure theyll wrap it up and get it to the point where Ill watch it all the way, like I tell my boys, and make sure the ball goes into the pocket of glove." And at least the injury isnt to his pitching hand. "Weve all done something like that at some point in our lives," he said. "It was a huge bummer, but so blessed it was my left hand. A bummer to miss a start and get off schedule a little." Mario Edwards Jr Jersey . Louis Blues, having added Ryan Miller and Steve Ott from Buffalo, remain the No. Eddie Vanderdoes Jersey . -- The Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract with cornerback Kelvin Hayden.NEW YORK -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made $44.2 million in 2012, according to tax returns the league has submitted. Goodell earned $35.1 million in salary, bonus and pension compensation. Based on IRS reporting guidelines, his total 2012 compensation includes a $5 million incentive payment and a $4.1 million pension payment from the 2011 lockout year that was paid in 2012. The leagues revenues have approached $10 billion and its TV ratings dominate all other programming. "Commissioner Goodells compensation reflects the value of his leadership and the success of the NFL at the highest levels," said Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, a member of the leagues compensation committee. "His significant accomplishments continue to strengthen our game, our business and our leading position in the sports industry." League general counsel Jeff Pash was second on the list of executives pay with $7.86 million, and he had $1.23 millioon in deferred compensation. Emmanuel Lamur Jersey. Executive vice-president Eric Grubman was at $4.243 million, with another $527,000 deferred. "The NFL owners determined that the NFL under Goodell is the best-run sports league and has a great future," said Marc Ganis, president of SportsCorp, a Chicago-based consulting firm, and close observer of the NFL. "They felt Rogers performance warranted his compensation to at least be comparable to the highest paid commissioner, which has historically been Bud Selig." Selig is believed to earn a salary in excess of $20 million. "The people who decided his performance warranted this compensation are the same people who are paying it, the 32 team owners," Ganis added. "They decided that Goodells performance was worth a little more than $1 million for each of the teams -- a very rational decision based on the extraordinary results Goodell has delivered for them." Custom Manchester United Jerseys . -- Jay Haas and Peter Jacobsen took the second-round lead Saturday in the Champions Tours Legends of Golf, teaming for a 6-under 48 in windy conditions on the par-3 Top of the Rock course.TORONTO – Anthony Duclair admits that his draft year was a disaster. Injury and inconsistency kept Duclairs numbers down during the 2012-13 season as concerns over his character grew louder and louder. At one point, the Quebec Remparts forward was handed a team suspension over attitude issues. As outlined by Bob McKenzie, scouts were filing reports on Duclair that looked like this: We thought he was selfish with too much me and not enough we in his game, plus he played careful. He didnt want to pay the price against tough competition, but lit up weak teams. Duclair had first-round potential, but fell to the third round finally getting scooped up by the New York Rangers with the 80th pick. I had a bad year all around with distractions off the ice, but I regrouped as a person and matured over the summer, Duclair explained. I looked myself in the mirror and I told myself, I can give much more. And I think hard work paid off for me. Duclair put up 50 goals and 49 assists in 59 games with Quebec last season and then, this fall, put forward an outstanding training camp performance to earn a spot with the Rangers as a 19-year-old. Along the way, he earned the nickname The Duke of Broadway. Duclair started the season hot with one goal and four assists in his first seven games. But recently his game slipped a bit and the Montreal native found himself in the press box as a healthy scratch. The Rangers approached him about the possibility of playing at the world juniors and Duclair let them know he would welcome the opportunity. Duclairs history with Hockey Canada isnt great. He was part of a gold-medal Under-18 team at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Tournament, but played only a minor role, ultimately becoming the 13th forward by the championship game. He was not invited to last years world junior camp. But Duclair did get an invite to the recent summer evaluation camp and thats when the teams braintrust noticed a change in his personality. He was great with everyone, said Ryan Jankowski, Hockey Canaddas director of player personnel. David de Gea Jersey. He was great within our realm of what we try and do at the summer camp to learn about the players as people and their character. I think maturity is a big part of it, Duclair said. And just staying humble, staying grounded, staying down to earth is really important when things go well. I think I have improved that part of my life. Team Canada head coach Benoit Groulx, also the bench boss with the Gatineau Olympiques, noticed that Duclairs game went to another level after he was left off the Canadian world junior team last year. I got to tell you this, said Groulx, who was an assistant on Brent Sutters world junior staff last year in Malmo, Sweden where Canada finished fourth, last year after Christmas, he was tough to play against. He ended up scoring 50 goals and when you have a 50-goal scorer, whether its in the Quebec league, Ontario league or Western league, you got to respect that. I think Anthony, last year, proved himself. Duclair is now playing a prominent role in Canadas quest to end a five-year gold-medal drought. He is pencilled in as the teams top-line right winger. Well, hes a nice piece for us, especially on the right side where we dont have a lot of natural right wingers, said Jankowski. There is a good chance Duclair will end up playing on the same line as Connor McDavid. I saw him play for the first time in person this summer and the hype is real, Duclair said. This guy is for sure going to be an NHL superstar given his talent, his skill, his vision. His speed is just incredible and at such a young age as well. Its just exciting to watch. Sometimes a player who gets loaned by an NHL team to a junior club has mixed emotions. After all, it can be tough to leave the big league where youre living your lifelong dream. But Duclair seems genuinely pumped for this chance. I havent played in this tournament before, he said with a big smile. This is my last opportunity and its in my hometown so Im more excited than ever. For the Calgary Flames, this season started in exciting fashion that was beginning to put distance between the struggles of five straight seasons without playoff hockey. http://www.officialraidersgear.com/Raiders-Marcus-Allen-Draft-Jersey/ . Theyre now in danger of being thrust right back into that bleak conversation by matching their worst losing streak during that time. A loss tonight in Los Angeles would equal the Flames nine-game skid from Jan. 11-28, 2010, and they might be catching the Kings just as the Stanley Cup champions begin to re-establish their elite form. The Flames (17-15-3) at least earned a point in Saturdays 3-2 overtime loss in Vancouver, which is more than they can say about the first seven losses on the streak. We talked about our character since the start of the year, coach Bob Hartley told the teams official website. I felt it would have been easy to fold the tent tonight, second game in two nights, but credit to our guys, they battled back. The loss followed Fridays 2-1 home defeat against Dallas, and Calgary has been limited to 13 goals during the skid. That comes after averaging 3.11 goals through 25 contests. The Kings (17-11-6) have had no such offensive issues in their last two games, scoring 10 goals in consecutive wins after beating Arizona 4-2 on Saturday. It comes as a relief after Los Angeles was outscored 20-13 during a 1-4-1 slump. The power play has been a big part of the turnaround, as the Kings have gone 5 for 11 in these wins after converting at a rate of 10.5 percent over their previous 11 games. I cant tell you (whats changed), Anze Kopitar told the teams official website. Were moving the puck good and were getting some good looks. A couple of bounces here and there is nice to get. Kopitar has certainly been a big part of it while playing with Marian Gaborik and Jeff Carter. He has a goal and seven assists in the last two games and nine points in his last three contests after managing three in his previous 12. He also has nine points in his past nine games against the Flames. Gaborik has broken out with six goals and two assists on a four-game point streak after going four games without one. He has 24 points in his last 19 games versus Calgary. Carter has scored in consecutive games and has six points in his last three, but hes been limited to six points in 17 games against the Flames. Its nice, Kopitar said. Every guy will tell you that its nice when you build a little bit of chemistry and you somewhat know where the guys are going to be on the ice. It makes it easier. But I think the big thing too is coming out of our zone and really make sure we support each other pretty good. Thats why we can get some open looks in the O-zone. Jonathan Quick has won consecutive starts, but he has a 3.16 goals-against average over a 3-1-1 stretch. Hes typically fared well against Calgary, posting a 1.40 GAA over a 9-3-2 span. For the Flames, Jonas Hiller and Karri Ramo are both in need of a win. Hiller has yet to face Los Angeles with Calgary, but hes got a 2.12 GAA against the Kings over a 5-3-3 run. Ramo has lost his last three games with a 4.48 GAA, but hes 3-0-0 with a 1.95 GAA against Los Angeles. All of those starts came last season as the Flames won three of five in the series.
